LinkedIn came to BUCK wanting their first-ever Year in Review, a personalized, shareable celebration of each user's 2025 on the platform. As Animation Lead, I worked across the full arc of the project: shaping the creative direction, building out the production infrastructure, and directing a team of animators to bring it all to life in Rive.

TYPE RULES

With 207,360 possible user journeys across three languages and a huge range of device sizes, consistency couldn't just live in people's heads. It had to be written down. I put together a set of animation rules covering how type entered, how layouts breathed, and how transitions behaved across every variation. The idea was that no matter which path a user landed on, it would all feel like the same world.

SPREADSHEET TRACKER

I co-built a tracker that mapped every asset to its user flow, state, and language variant. It kept handoffs smooth, made QA way less painful, and meant the whole team could move quickly.

MY NEW FORM OF ART - RIVE STATE MACHINE

Building entirely in Rive pushed us to think about animation differently. Less like a timeline, more like a set of rules a machine could follow. I worked closely with the Rive team throughout to make sure our motion system translated into a build that was both flexible and solid. Seeing the craft hold up not just in a rendered file, but across a live, data-driven experience, that part was really satisfying.
